He got second place! Boy, that was certainly unexpected. (Isaac's car is gold with a black stripe.)
Last night was Isaac's first Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. We learned a few things when Paul Ivan was a cub scout, and I guess that made all the difference. Isaac was so proud he actually won some races. He was convinced that other racers had the advantage because they had "graphite". He didn't know what "graphite" was, but the other cars had it and his didn't. Well, somewhere along the line, a selfless scout, or maybe a kind parent, shared their graphite with Isaac and Isaac's car really took off (or so my husband claims.) Note for next year: buy graphite.
Isaac was also awarded his wolf badge and a gold arrow point and two silver arrow points. He was really happy to complete his first rank (bobcat doesn't really count). Scouting is a long journey, and he just took his first steps.
