The danger of gift exchanges

My wife and I went to a party tonight where there was a nice gift exchange between 30 people. It reminded me of a gift exchange from a Christmas past -- in fact it was just last year.

My brother had been in Texas for less than a year. He was invited over to my in-laws' house where we had a family gathering that included a gift exchange.

Keith was used to the gift exchanges at my sister's house where sometimes gag gifts were exchanged. Somehow the lines of communication got crossed and Keith ended up bringing to the party a gift-wrapped tube of Preparation H.

He knew he was in trouble after the first gift was unwrapped. My father-in-law unwrapped Keith's gift and didn't quite know how to take it. He should have just opened the box and squirted some of the ointment on his hands and rubbed it all over my brother's face because it was red and looked like it burned.

I read this the other day and couldn't stop laughing. I can only imagine what Keith's face looked like when that gift was opened.
