It is true. In less than an hour she will be 40-years-old. She actually helps me to have hope that mankind in general can change for the better because she went from a whiny big sister with an attitude when I was a teenager to the most wonderful sister somebody could hope for as an adult.
When Brandy and I moved to Utah to attend BYU, Carrie and Dave opened their house to us. They invited us to birthday parties and holiday gatherings. Carrie was there and provided stability and laughter after Paul Ivan's birth. She even helped select his middle name. There was one point in the hospital room when we were all crying and she grabbed what she thought was a tissue. It turned out to be the largest feminine napkin I had ever seen, and Brandy and I laughed hysterically with her for the first time in what seemed like ages.
She has been a great mother and a superb aunt. I am proud that she is my sister, the first sibling to turn 40. Now that you're 40, watch out for Mark. Grandma tells me he eschews hugs from people over 40.

Paul- I'm laughing and crying all at the same time. How did you do that? What a special little brother you are. Family is what makes my life wonderful. I'm so glad you and your family are apart of that. I love you all and miss you so much. Thanks for making my day extra special.
P.S. Since we're really close in age I thought you might want to know that 40 is really great. You don't even feel a bit different. In case you we're wondering what it will be like.:)
Love you all- Carrie
I am never going to look at large feminine napkins the same. What a great sister.
Somebody needs to let Carrie know that the photo is not doctored in any way, Thats all Mark. I hear he practiced that embrace for some time.
