It's Going to be a Long Year

The baseball season hasn't even started yet but it is clear that the Giants season will be for the birds. The team is not expected to be very interesting this year, although for me that doesn't really matter. I will still be compelled to watch games and read about the team.

I have seen many games where seagulls swirl around the air or perch themselves atop the highest reaches of the stadium waiting for people to leave so they can pick up the scraps of food left behind.

This picture is from a recent exhibition game and it is the first time I have seen the birds make themselves such a prominent part of the game. There were reportedly very few fans in the bleachers, so the birds took the field undeterred.
