first day of school

I'm a day late, but here are the pictures.

It was a much anticipated morning for us all. Rebekah tried to go to bed at 8pm, but couldn't sleep. Emma nervously woke up, and complained her "stomach hurt." This was her first time ever feeling anxious/nervous. She didn't know what she was feeling. Isaac uncharacteristically got up and got dressed without much prodding. And Paul played it cool all the way. He's in seventh grade, you know.

After the house emptied, it was quiet. Just as I had suspected--it was the kids who were making all the noise. I had a great today. I had scheduled a visiting teaching appointment and a pedicure. The pedicure was a reward for the long suffering I endured this summer with 6 kids! Not really--it was a birthday gift from my friends, and I never had time to get it until now.

In case you are wondering, Emma was not too excited about being in class. The girl next to her at the table was crying her eyes out, and I could see that Emma started to doubt how fun school was going to be. But the smile at the end of the day told me everything went all right.

I'm glad you got your break and I hope you enjoy every moment of quiet...and the noise when it returns. :) Here's to happy & quiet days!

I'm glad you were able to go out and get a pedicure. Every so often, they are wonderful indeed.
